| IT Balance Scorecard |
Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton developed the balanced scorecard approach in the early 1990s to compensate for their perceived shortcomings of using financial metrics to judge corporate performance. They recognized that in this “New Economy” it was also necessary to value intangible assets. IT Balance Scorecard is an extension of the conceptual framework to measure and manage the four pillars of Balance Scorecard – ‘financial’, ‘customer’, ‘internal business processes’ and ‘learning and growth’.

| How Coral can help? |
Coral has a successful methodology to implement Balance Scorecard. This includes the following:
- Training and awareness to senior management
- Formulating a core team to implement BSC
- Advising and coordinating the right measurements based on organisation specific business and competitive environments, and feasibility of data collection.
- Building and advising measurement teams to successfully measure the chosen metrics to provide true BSC valuation.

| Why adopt Balance Scorecard? |
Balance Scorecard provides you a model of performance based on measurements. The measurements are classified as:
- Financial
- Customer
- Internal Business Processes
- Learning and Growth
Why is this important? A true measure of these areas and their correlation to the financial performance is extremely integral to know how the organisation is performing and more importantly ‘whether the organisation will sustain and grow’. Applied to Information Technology processes, it can answer several questions such as: ‘how IT adds value to the organisation’, ‘‘which It service is most critical to our organisation, and will it sustain in future?’, or ‘which skill is key to IT performance’ and many more. One word of caution: Like any other management systems, this has to be driven from top. Balance Scorecard is an organisation-wide initiative, if an IT manager considers the project without enough management participation, it may not be worth the efforts. |
